What is carbon neutral?
Being carbon neutral means that we are offsetting the same amount of carbon dioxide that we emit, resulting in net-zero carbon emissions. There is a measured balance between absorbing and emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Many big companies, like Apple, Amazon and Coca-Cola, are undertaking the task of becoming carbon neutral. Although it may seem like a daunting feat, it is an important one.
It’s everyone’s duty to do everything within their power to help with climate change. For us, becoming carbon neutral is a step we’re proud to take.
Offsetting Carbon Emissions
The process of offsetting carbon is about balancing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are unfortunately unavoidable in today’s society. An offset is produced by an activity that does one of three things:
- Prevents the release of GHG emissions
- Reduces the release of GHG emissions
- Removes GHG emissions
Activities that offset carbon emissions include:
- Biogas (biofuel produced from decomposed waste)
- Using renewable energy (like solar power)
- Reforestation
